Challenge
Previously, KPPS was using a manual, spreadsheet based forecasting system, and in an industry that is continually being updated and changed, accurate forecasting was near impossible. Long lead times and poor forecasting infrastructure was resulting in global inventory problems.
More specifically, as 70% of Australia’s products were supplied by overseas operations, it was leaving customers dissatisfied with product delivery times, leading to the movement of inventory between warehouses in the bid to try and satisfy customer standards.
Solution
Forecast Management and Requirements Planning systems were introduced and as such have improved fulfilment over the first 18 months of implementation. 99% of line orders can now be fulfilled and 98% of back orders can be achieved within company standards, meaning there has been an increase in customer satisfaction. As a result of a more efficient and streamlined forecasting process, company sales have risen and the business continues to grow.
