As the world’s leading provider of commercial blasting solutions, it was imperative to facilitate the company with a system that could handle the size and complexity of the business.


Aside from being one of the country’s biggest mining companies and a leading provider of commercial blasting solutions, Orica now also supports everything from road construction to quarries. With so many aspects to the company, forecasting is hugely important to ensure all parts run smoothly, and before the introduction on DMS, warehouses were still housing inventory from four years ago. With no overall sales and planning system, staff were simply told each month what to make, without any forecasting of what to expect.


The implementation of DMS in Australia went extremely well, as Orica North America had been using DMS for a number of years. Culling product from approximately $17 million AUD to approximately $8 million after just four years, with inventory turns going from three to six per year on the majority of items.
